"Prince wanted Obama to ban birthdays and Christmas, according to his buddy Van Jones"
Huh?
i saw this news scrolling at the bottom of the television screen this morning.
i looked it up.
not much of a story, but it certainly has the ring of truth to it.
"Prince wanted Obama to ban birthdays and Christmas, according to his buddy Van Jones"
Huh?
i feel like everything that comes out of my mothers mouth is something negative and cringe worthy.
all she seems to talk about with me is how terrible and demonic our disfellowshipped relatives are, how horrible the world and holidays are, or how she is so much better and "holier than thou".
it really makes me sick sometimes.
What kind of jobs have you looked for? You might want to try bagging groceries. Can you drive and if so do you have a car? It would help to set up goals for yourself.
i wish i had read this back when i was 18. it's an amazing take down of religious beliefs, the bible, and religion in general.
) a "reason"-able manner.take this quote, from near the beginning:.
when also i am told that a woman, called the virgin mary, said, or gave out, that she was with child without any cohabitation with a man, and that her betrothed husband, joseph, said that an angel told him so, i have a right to believe them or not: such a circumstance required a much stronger evidence than their bare word for it: but we have not even this; for neither joseph nor mary wrote any such matter themselves.
Here are some more gems from The Age Of Reason:
This knowledge is of divine origin; and it is from the Bible of the creation that man has learned it, and not from the stupid Bible of the church, that teaches man nothing.
*The Bible-makers have undertaken to give us, in the first chapter of Genesis, an account of the creation; and in doing this they have demonstrated nothing but their ignorance…
And-
Whenever we read the obscene stories, the voluptuous debaucheries, the cruel and torturous executions, the unrelenting vindictiveness, with which more than half the Bible is filled, it would be more consistent that we called it the word of a demon, than the Word of God. It is a history of wickedness, that has served to corrupt and brutalize mankind; and, for my own part, I sincerely detest it, as I detest everything that is cruel.
"of course not- we want to eat from clean dishes!
dishes that have been cleaned thoroughly inside and out.
" we have to be sure the things entering our minds are clean... rejecting exciting fun stuff that features sex.
I didn't know that dishes had an "inside" that could be washed.
"a believer" seems to be our new apologist/disobedient sheep.
"a believer" ignores the "spirit-directed"/"bible-based" commands of the gb/fds!
shame on you, "a believer"!!!!
2+2=5, can you be a little more clear?

A Believer,
From where do you guys get that I shouldn't be here?
First, you've been told in no uncertain terms why you shouldn't be here if you are a faithful Witness.
Second, you should know without having to be told.
It's your organization that will disfellowship you for that. I've known people getting disfellowshipped for reading Crisis of Conscience.
i remember when i was about 17, i started shunning an older brother because he was disfellowshipped.
when i graduated high school, he pulled me aside and said " i know you are not supposed to talk to me, but i want you to have this" it was a gift that he had custom made for me.
i was so blown away, we never even had a real conversation before.
Yes. A kind couple let me into their home for a few days when I was having problems with my (non-JW) family. He was an elder.
Another "Sister" had me stay over when my mom and dad got back together after 17 years. She was a make-up artist for the bible dramas. I assisted her in removing the false beards (glued) and tinted skin ("Egyptian brown") of the actors.
can jws read publications by other churches?
or by atheists?
i've always heard these are apostate materials.
The elder who studied with me and took out on my first day of field service said that we were not under any circumstances to accept anyone else's literature.
according to some, the earth may have 10 billion people living on it by the end of this century.
there is genuine concern about space and resources.. imagine, then, 100 billion people being resurrected to live on earth.
some jws will argue that not everyone will be resurrected to earth, including 144,000. imagine 50 billion then, assuming that half of the people who ever lived did something so horrific that they aren't deemed worthy to be resurrected.. jws who are lurking and reading this: where are they going to live?
DATA-DOG,
If Jeehobo makes the Earth bigger, how would that affect our atmosphere?
If the Earth were twice our current diameter it would have four times the surface area but with greater gravity. Don't know what that would do to our atmosphere except perhaps compressing it somewhat.

Come on folks. Some simple facts and figures.
The Earth's land surface is 57 million square miles (Including oceans, 196 million). Divided into 100 billion that comes out to about 1750 people per square mile. That rounds off to 3 persons per acre (208 X 208 square feet).
That's much less than suburban density in the United States. It's also possible to feed that many with such land density under ideal - but not realistic - conditions.
Just playing devil's advocate.
